Test Director
A test director is the person responsible for providing overall leadership, governance, and strategic direction for testing across one or more projects or an organization.

Real World Example
An insurance company runs five concurrent projects, each with its own test manager reporting on their own schedule, coverage, and defects.
Each test manager is doing a good job locally, but nobody is comparing notes across projects — so when two unrelated teams start hitting the same integration defect against a shared identity service, neither test manager realizes the other has seen it too.
The test director reviews consolidated risk and status reports across all five test managers, spots the recurring pattern between two of the projects, and reallocates test resources so one team investigates the shared root cause instead of both teams debugging it in parallel.
The shared defect is traced to the identity service days sooner than it would have been otherwise, because comparing signals across test managers — the thing a Test director does that no single test manager can — is what surfaced the pattern.
