What is Process-compliant Test Strategy?

The strategy ensures that testing activities comply with organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and approved development practices.

Compliance focus: Testing follows established organizational processes.

Standardization: Promotes consistency across projects.

Governance: Supports audits and regulatory compliance.

Real World Example

A large consulting firm mandates that every project team use its own internally defined test process framework — specific templates, a required way to document each test's basis and oracle, and a defined team structure — regardless of which client or industry the project serves.

A test lead new to the firm writes test cases informally without documenting the test basis or oracle rationale for each one, and the project fails an internal quality review for not following the firm's mandated process steps, even though the tests themselves were reasonably thorough.

The team adopts a Process-compliant test strategy, structuring test planning, test basis and oracle identification, and team organization according to the firm's own predefined process — not because a law or industry standard requires it, but because the organization's own defined way of working does.

The next internal quality review passes cleanly because every required process artifact is in place, illustrating that a Process-compliant test strategy is about following the organization's own defined process, distinct from following an external regulatory standard.
